Hoshi Gaki
I didn’t cook anything exciting today. We had leftovers for lunch and
had pasta shells with marinara sauce for dinner. As you can see from
the picture, we have been busy peeling persimmons—and by we, I mean my
husband today and myself yesterday. We have been hanging whole fruit up
to dry in the Japanese style of Hoshi Gaki and slicing fruit to dry in
the food dehydrator. For those few fruit that are jelly-soft, we have
squeezed the insides out onto a fruit roll tray and placed it in the
dehydrator. We are really having fun here!
